What was significant about the location of Yorktown for Lord Cornwallis?
Answer:
It was located by sea.
Explanation:
After suffering heavy losses in battles in the Carolinas, British General Charles Cornwallis moves his army to Yorktown, a port city on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia, to await reinforcements coming by sea. But the French fleet gets there first and takes control of the bay, making it impossible for British ships to get in—or for Cornwallis to get out. Meanwhile the Marquis de Lafayette, leading an army of American troops, blocks Cornwallis’ escape route to the south. Washington leads 7,000 American and French troops from New York to attack from the north.
Washington knows the stakes are high. The complex military operation, writes historian Barbara W. Tuchman, “would be a task of extraordinary difficulty and would involve a serious risk of failure—of his own reputation, of his army and of the cause of independence.” At Washington’s direction, his army bombards Cornwallis’s forces with cannonballs night and day for a solid week before moving in to attack with bayonets. After a counterattack by his troops fails, Cornwallis realizes the situation is hopeless and surrenders his entire army of 8,000 men. The Battle of Yorktown goes down in history as the decisive battle of the Revolution.

-What does it means Government as Contract?
Another effect of the Great Awakening on colonial culture was the growth of the notion of the state (country) as a contract with the people. Parishioners during the revival gained an understanding of covenant/contract with their churches; they argued that each believer owed the church their obedience, and churches, in turn, owed their congregants the duty to be faithful to the Gospel. Parishioners, therefore, reserved the right to dissolve the covenant and to break ties with the church without prior permission. This notion of a covenant was a popular one in Puritan society and reflected a common/same biblical understanding of association. Present in the Mayflower Compact and later forming an ideological basis for breaking from Great Britain, the notion of covenant grew to link religion and politics in the colonies. The Ideals/beliefs of Puritanical covenant theology were manifested/showed in the “Social compact” of the Declaration of Independence . Under this belief, implicit/ hidden in the Declaration, disassociated/separation individuals in the “state of nature” agree to live and to be bound together under the same government. With the frequency by which believers
broke away from larger churches to form splinter groups, the colonists must have been accustomed to separating themselves from larger institutions/organizations such that of the king.
How did the practice of indentured servitude positively impact our country?
Give 3 positive examples.
Answer:
Indentured servants first arrived in America in the decade following the settlement of Jamestown by the Virginia Company in 1607.
The idea of indentured servitude was born of a need for cheap labor. The earliest settlers soon realized that they had lots of land to care for, but no one to care for it. With passage to the Colonies expensive for all but the wealthy, the Virginia Company developed the system of indentured servitude to attract workers. Indentured servants became vital to the colonial economy.
The timing of the Virginia colony was ideal. The Thirty Year's War had left Europe's economy depressed, and many skilled and unskilled laborers were without work. A new life in the New World offered a glimmer of hope; this explains how one-half to two-thirds of the immigrants who came to the American colonies arrived as indentured servants.
Servants typically worked four to seven years in exchange for passage, room, board, lodging and freedom dues. While the life of an indentured servant was harsh and restrictive, it wasn't slavery. There were laws that protected some of their rights. But their life was not an easy one, and the punishments meted out to people who wronged were harsher than those for non-servants. An indentured servant's contract could be extended as punishment for breaking a law, such as running away, or in the case of female servants, becoming pregnant.
For those that survived the work and received their freedom package, many historians argue that they were better off than those new immigrants who came freely to the country. Their contract may have included at least 25 acres of land, a year's worth of corn, arms, a cow and new clothes. Some servants did rise to become part of the colonial elite, but for the majority of indentured servants that survived the treacherous journey by sea and the harsh conditions of life in the New World, satisfaction was a modest life as a freeman in a burgeoning colonial economy.
In 1619 the first black Africans came to Virginia. With no slave laws in place, they were initially treated as indentured servants, and given the same opportunities for freedom dues as whites. However, slave laws were soon passed – in Massachusetts in 1641 and Virginia in 1661 –and any small freedoms that might have existed for blacks were taken away.
As demands for labor grew, so did the cost of indentured servants. Many landowners also felt threatened by newly freed servants demand for land. The colonial elite realized the problems of indentured servitude. Landowners turned to African slaves as a more profitable and ever-renewable source of labor and the shift from indentured servants to racial slavery had begun.

Here are 3 thing that will help u !D
Answer:
The Byzantine Empire existed for nearly 1,125 years, and it’s one of the greatest empires of all time. Yet many people know little about it, other than the word “byzantine” being synonymous for highly intricate, complex, and devious dealings.
Beginning its adult life as the capital for the Eastern part of the Roman Empire, the city of Constantinople—later Byzantium, and Istanbul today—became the center of an extremely vibrant society that preserved Greek and Roman traditions while much of Western Europe slipped into the Dark Ages. The Byzantine Empire protected Western Europe’s legacy until barbarism waned, when finally the preserved Greek and Roman masterworks opened the eyes of Europeans and stoked the fires of the Renaissance.
Many historians have agreed that without Byzantium to protect it, Europe would have been overrun by the tide of Islamic invaders. The purpose of this list is for the readers to take an accurate historical journey—based on real facts—very much worth taking.
