write a narrative essay having an ending we arrived safely at last

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Everyone was preparing for the journey.

It was a hectic day at work. But given that all my relatives work at the same office- The Monsoon Inc.- it was a big relief.

The monsoon ministers were going to each individual and giving them instructions of where they had to begin and end their journey.

My parents and I were thankfully given the same starting and ending point.

It might sound funny, but our office was an impromptu one. It was never in the same place. Sometimes it's on a huge cloud, sometimes it's on a small one. Sometimes it's near the sun and sometimes it's near the rainbow.

Anyway, we were all ready to go on our journey now.

My father went first. My mother, next.

It was my turn now. I was petrified. It was my first ever journey as a rain drop.

“Go ahead now! You're going to be fine.” The Monsoon minister consoled me.

I took my first step outside the cloud. And down I went.

It was hard to open my eyes at first. But then when I did, I could see no one I knew around me.

There were stranger drops on leaves, some were falling right beside me, some fell on buildings, some went right on the ground.

Terrified, I looked down on the ground I was about to fall on.

There they were! My parents.

Ater reaching the ground I let out a sigh of relief. At last, we arrived safely

What is Shirley Chisholm's overall purpose in her speech?
A. to discredit the other candidates running for the Democratic nomination
B. to persuade people that she is the right choice for the Democratic nomination
C. to convince people that she has overwhelming support for the Democratic
nomination
D. to pressure people to vote for her for the Democratic nomination

Answers

B. to persuade people that she is the right choice for the Democratic nomination

To persuade people that she is the right choice for the Democratic nomination is Shirley Chisholm's overall purpose in her speech. Hence, option D is correct.

What is the main idea of Chisholm's speech?

The need for the ERA served as the speech's main theme. Similar to the ERA, a constitutional amendment would provide federal protection and supersede any state laws that would encourage discrimination.

In the 95th and 96th Congresses, from 1977 to 1981, Chisholm held the position of Secretary of the Democratic Caucus. Chisholm campaigned to increase possibilities for citizens in inner cities throughout her time in Congress. She supports raising the amount spent on social services including education and healthcare.

If there were still any labor regulations that only applied to women, their revision or repeal would give them access to better-paying employment in manufacturing. More options for women in public graduate and vocational institutions would also generally increase their chances of finding better employment.

Thus, option D is correct.

In three to five sentence, explain the methods used by the author to create sentence fluency and rhythm in this passage

Answers

Answer:

brainleist plsss!!

Explanation:

This author uses a variety of methods to flow from one idea to the next in this passage, and to improve sentence fluidity. First, the author sets the pace of this moment by placing the reader in a moment in which the action is already happening, which is done by using the phrase "At last". Then, the author pauses, using an em-dash, to give an explanation without stopping the action of the story (considering we are curious at this point as to what is happening "at last"). The author then uses short, descriptive sentences to speed up the action, and draw the reader into the moment.

Writing in third person is writing from the third-person point of view, or outsider looking in, and uses pronouns like he, she, it, or they. It differs from the first person, which uses pronouns such as I and me, and from the second person, which uses pronouns such as you and yours.

Writing in the third-person provides flexibility and objectivity. In fiction writing, it enables the narrator to be all-knowing. The personal pronouns used in third-person writing are he, she, it, they, him, her, them, his, her, hers, its, their, and theirs.

In 1917, Horace Albright visited the canyon created by the Virgin River in southwestern Utah. He was amazed at the beauty of the colorful cliffs. Albright determined that this national monument would become a popular tourist destination. The official name of the monument at that time was Mukuntuweap National Monument. It had been named in honor of the Paiutes who lived in the region. Albright thought that the name was difficult to pronounce and proposed a name change. President Woodrow Wilson renamed the monument Zion National Monument, which became Zion National Park in 1919. The number of people visiting the park increased from approximately 300 in 1914 to 1,814 people in 1919.

Zion National Park is known for its many hiking trails. The shortest trail leads to one of the popular destinations: Weeping Rock, a cliff face with a hanging garden. Over the years, water made its way through the Navajo sandstone of the cliff, traveling through pores and creating canyons. Eventually, the water encountered a layer of rock that was impermeable. The water was unable to continue down, so it traveled horizontally. At Weeping Rock, the water comes through the pores of the sandstone. The amount of water that flows out of the rock can be a trickle or a stream, giving the impression that the rock is crying. Vegetation grows in shaded areas of the cliff with water coming through the rock. As the plants grow out of the rock face, they give the illusion that they are hanging in the air.

In the last century, word spread of Zion National Park's many natural treasures, like the Weeping Rock. Roads, trails, and visitor centers were built. More people traveled to Zion in order to hike, horseback ride, and go canyoneering. The Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel was constructed by 1930. Visitors still use the tunnel to travel from Zion to the Grand Canyon or Bryce Canyon. Now, park rangers are facing problems created by having too many visitors. Trails and campgrounds are overused and need repairs. Visitors are straying off the trails to create their own, thereby damaging the vegetation. Rangers are considering the best ways to protect this national park and maintain its beauty for future generations.

Based on the passage, how did the existence of Navajo sandstone lead to the hanging gardens?

The existence of Navajo sandstone allowed water to flow through its pores, until it reached a different type of stone, moved horizontally, and came out the side of the cliff. This water was necessary for the plants to survive, leading to the hanging gardens.

The existence of Navajo sandstone led to a dry, hot climate, in which plants could not grow, except those used in hanging gardens. This dry, hot climate made it difficult for many species of plants to grow, resulting in locals planting the hanging gardens.

The existence of Navajo sandstone led to the creation of many holes with soil, which hanging gardens use to grow up toward the sun. These holes with soil were used by locals to plant lush hanging gardens that visitors could help maintain when they visited.

The existence of Navajo sandstone showed that Native Americans used to dwell in the area by building their houses in the cliffs. In order to decorate their homes, the Native Americans planted many different types of plants in the walls near the water.

Love, esteem, sincerity, valor, courage, modesty, wisdom, and truth. These seven principles are drawn from the Seven Grandfather Teachings, which have been verbally down through many generations of Anishinaabe elders.

What is  Seven Grandfather Teachings?

Every Anishinaabe should abide by the seven grandfather teachings, which are moral guidelines. Love, respect, courage, honesty, integrity, modesty, and wisdom.

Long ago, a messenger who had been sent to see how the Neshnabék were living found that they were leading a life that was unfavorable, which affected their ideas, decisions, and actions.

Some showed disdain, felt hatred for others, were scared, lied, and cheated. Others flaunted arrogance or were overcome with guilt. The messenger came across a child while traveling.

The Seven Grandfathers have chosen this child to instruct in living a decent life. The lessons of Love, Respect, Bravery, Truth, Honesty, Humility, and Wisdom were imparted to him.

Each of these teachings must be applied in conjunction with the others, the Seven Grandfathers instructed him before leaving. Without Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility, and Truth, Wisdom cannot exist.

If you are just applying one of the other principles, you cannot be honest. To embrace the antithesis of what a teaching implies would be to leave it out. Each of the Seven Grandfathers gave the child a principle to follow. The child then had the option of letting them go or using them.

1. Summarize Scout's criticisms of her father. What do her criticisms reveal about the values of
her community? How do most people in Maycomb County define "manliness"?

Answers

Criticism reveals a lack of appreciation for education and intellectual growth in the community and shows that in Maycomb, masculinity is defined by physical strength and rigid gender roles.

Why did Scout criticize her father?Because he didn't fit the standard of masculinity society wanted.Because he valued education over physical strength.Because he didn't behave like the other men in town.

Scout's father did not have the behaviors that society believes men should have, as they claimed that these behaviors defined an individual's masculinity.

In this case, Scout's father did not engage in activities that required physical strength but was an intellectual, a lawyer who valued education and intellectual growth more.

The other men in town worked on farms, drove trucks, smoked, hunted, and engaged in games and activities that encouraged brutality.

Scout's father wasn't involved in that sort of thing, but he focused on reading and studying and was criticized for that.

D. Persuade listeners to embrace democratic freedoms.

Explanation: President Ronald Reagan gave his Address at Moscow State University on May 31, 1988, during his visit to the Soviet Union. And during his meeting with the students of the University, he stressed on the importance of democracy and one's freedom and rights.

Standing under the bust of Vladimir Lenin, Reagan addressed the students, stating that he wants to talk "about a very different revolution" [. . .] quietly sweeping the globe without bloodshed or conflict". He also proclaimed that "Democracy is the standard by which governments are measured", thus playing with the minds of the students about the need for a democratic government and approach. Talking about how freedom is an open belief in America, he stressed on how Americans practice it, be it politically or religiously.

Thus, the one purpose of this speech is to try to persuade the students, the listeners about the need to embrace democratic freedoms.

The fact that this dialogue contains elements of a Shakespearean sonnet emphasizes Romeo's longing for the woman he is describing. disdain for Benvolio's intrusive questions. wish that Benvolio could also experience love. skepticism about the idea of being in love.

Answers

The question is incomplete and the full version can be found on Quizlet

Answer: D. skepticism about the idea of being in love

Explanation:

Romeo's words show his skepticism about the idea of being in love because his loved one won´t accept any romantic advances. Like many Shakespearean sonnets, this example has strong figurative language, like the allusion to Diana, the goddess of hunting and chastity. Romeo is longing for the woman he loves, but his description is a sad one because he understands he won´t be able to make her love him. Rome is probably upset about Benvolio's intrusive questions, but neither that nor a wish that Benvolio could also experience love, are the point of his words.

Using the story as a guide, what is the difference between a house and a home?

Answers

Answer:

The difference between a house and a home lies in the subjective meaning that each word has.

Thus, a house is a building prepared to accommodate a certain number of people who live in it. That is, the word house refers to the construction itself.

For its part, the word home refers to the subjective component that said building has for the people who live in it: thus, the home is not only the building, but also refers to the feeling of belonging that said person has towards that building and the people who live there, who are considered family.

In the fourth paragraph, the author calls Gallaudet University “a symbol of leadership and opportunity” in order to:

E) appeal to his audience’s pride in the institution

A University is referred to as a higher institution of learning where a student gets admission to study a specialized course where he can become a professional practitioner after he had gotten his degree.

As a result of this, when a person refers to a university as a symbol of leadership and opportunity, he is trying to show how good the institution is and why it should be a preferred destination for students.

This statement is one of praise and is meant to appeal to the pride of the institution and make his audience (who are probably students of the school) feel proud about  their school.

Therefore, the correct answer is option E
