Answer:
B. give readers a window into José's thoughts at crucial moments in the story
Explanation:
The author of "Born Worker", chose a narrative point of view for this story so as to provide the readers with insight on José's thoughts at important parts of the story. José was the protagonist in the story. He was the "born worker", who did not say much most of the time but rather had his say in his mind.
The narrative style of the story allows us to know what José thought of most of the time. For example, after Arnie said that he knew one of his dad's colleagues whose dog fed on steak, the author narrated José's thoughts thus;
"He's a liar, José thought. No matter how he tried, he couldn't picture a dog grubbing on steak. The world was too poor for that kind of silliness."
Identify the correct preposition to use in this expression.

Think about the injustice that you will write about for your essay. Write a sentence that describes what your claim is and why it is important to you.
Answer:
The lack of equal pay encourages disrespect towards women and puts them in a weakened position in relation to men. This type of complaint is important because it shows how women have been abused in different ways and the debates about it have not been enough to prevent this type of situation from happening.
Explanation:
According to the statement shown above, the injustice that would be addressed in an essay would be in relation to equal pay for men and women and how this situation continues to happen, even though it has been debated and questioned several times within our society. This allows the essay to reinforce the idea that debates about the devaluation of women are not effective if there are no policies and laws that prevent these abuses from happening.

I am writing about standing up to bullies because it is harmful to victims and promotes violence. I'm writing about this topic because I have seen people harmed by bullying.
Explanation:
[1] I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
[5] Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
[10] Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
[15] A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
[20] In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

5. What is revealed about Oedipus' personality when he threatens to torture the Shepherd? Pull
a quote to back up your answer.
Answer:
A messenger enters, looking for Oedipus. He tells Jocasta that he has come from Corinth to tell Oedipus that his father, Polybus, is dead, and that Corinth wants Oedipus to come and rule there. Jocasta rejoices, convinced that since Polybus is dead from natural causes, the prophecy that Oedipus will murder his father is false. Oedipus arrives, hears the messenger’s news, and rejoices with Jocasta; king and queen concur that prophecies are worthless and the world is ruled by chance. However, Oedipus still fears the part of the prophecy that said he would sleep with his mother. The messenger says he can rid himself of that worry, because Polybus and his wife, Merope, are not really Oedipus’s natural parents.
The messenger explains that he used to be a shepherd years ago. One day, he found a baby on Mount Cithaeron, near Thebes. The baby had its ankles pinned together, and the former shepherd set them free. That baby was Oedipus, who still walks with a limp because of the injury to his ankles so long ago. When Oedipus inquires who left him in the woods on the mountain, the messenger replies that another shepherd, Laius’s servant, gave him baby Oedipus. At this, Jocasta turns sharply, seeming to sense some horrible revelation on the horizon.
Oedipus wants to find this shepherd, so he can find out who his natural parents are. Jocasta begs him to abandon his search immediately, but Oedipus is insistent. After screaming and pleading some more to no avail, Jocasta finally flees back into the palace. Oedipus dismisses her concerns as snobbish fears that he may be born of poor parents, and Oedipus and the Chorus rejoice at the possibility that they may soon know who his parents truly are.
The other shepherd, who turns out to be the same shepherd who witnessed Laius’s murder, comes onto the stage. The messenger identifies him as the man who gave him the young Oedipus. Oedipus interrogates the new arrival, asking who gave him the baby, but the shepherd refuses to talk. Finally, after Oedipus threatens him with torture, the shepherd answers that the baby came from the house of Laius. Questioned further, he answers that it was Laius’s child, and that Jocasta gave it to him to destroy because of a prophecy that the child would kill his parents. But instead, the shepherd gave him to the other shepherd, so that he might be raised as a prince in Corinth. Realizing who he is and who his parents are, Oedipus screams that he sees the truth, and flees back into the palace. The shepherd and the messenger slowly exit the stage.
Analysis
Sophocles makes the scene in which Oedipus and Jocasta learn that Polybus is dead seem strangely comic. Oedipus digests the news of Polybus’s death without showing the slightest sign of grief. The moment becomes, in fact, an occasion for near triumph, as Oedipus believes his doubts about prophecies have been confirmed. He is now convinced that prophecies are useless. He even says, “Polybus / packs [all the prophecies] off to sleep with him in hell!” (1062–1063). Oedipus’s strange glee reveals the extent to which he has withdrawn into himself after obtaining the knowledge that he killed his father. He and Jocasta rejoice in the smallest and most bizarre details in order to alleviate some of the guilt Oedipus feels (for another example, see Oedipus and Jocasta’s discussion at lines 938–951).
Oedipus’s own tenacity, however, means that he will not allow his understanding to remain incomplete. When he learns that there is still a piece of the puzzle left unsolved—the identity of the man from whom the messenger received the baby Oedipus—Oedipus seems irresistibly driven to ask questions until the whole truth is out. Thus, he gradually deprives himself of ambiguous details that could alleviate his guilt. Jocasta, of course, solves the riddle before Oedipus—she realizes she is his mother while he is still imagining himself to be the child of slaves. Oedipus must realize that something is amiss when Jocasta leaves the stage screaming, but his speech at lines 1183–1194 is strangely joyful. Chance, he says in this speech, is his mother, and the waxing and waning moon his brothers. Overwhelmed by an onslaught of new information, Oedipus re-envisions his earthly relationships as celestial ones as he announces his intent to uncover his true identity. It seems that he is unable to face directly the reality of his origins—reconceiving his identity allows him to feel a sense of control over it, but it also keeps that identity ambiguous. He basically identifies himself as someone who must search for his identity. Oedipus, who is famous for his skill at solving riddles, thus makes his own life into a riddle.

The Best & Brightest Awards places a special emphasis on the dedication to community service. Analyze this quote and write an essay describing how involvement in community service can make a difference in our community and/or for yourself as you prepare to enter high school.
Community service is extremely important to highlight social agendas in society and to promote justice and support communities and groups that are fragile and marginalized in our country. Participating in this type of activity during high school is essential for the student to understand his role as a socially privileged individual, in addition to having knowledge about social issues and developing his sense of compassion and generosity, since community service is a job that we do it for the people who need it, without receiving anything in return, besides the satisfaction of promoting the good.
However, it is important that this participation is a choice of students. This is because community services need dedicated people who participate in activities out of love for others and concern for the community. A person, who is obliged to participate, will not have these characteristics.

Write a paragraph about your favorite restaurant write at least 5 sentences that contain intervening expressions
Answer:
My Favorite Restaurants
As far back as I can remember, I have always liked going out to eat. Two of my favorite restaurants are Jake’s and McDonald’s. Though both are places to dine they have their differences in their ambiance, waiting, and expense. When deciding where to go to eat, I have three things to think about. I must consider the atmosphere or where I want to go. The amount of time I have is another consideration. The amount of money that I am able to spend is a big influence.
The atmosphere at Jake’s is casual, and people came to spend several hours. Jake’s has a waiting room with long, leather-topped benches to sit on while waiting. Some tables are round and some are long rectangles, so everything can fit on them. The…show more content…
There is no smoking in McDonald’s. Because Jake’s is popular it fills up rapidly but does not empty out quickly. As a result people planning to eat at Jake’s they might want to consider making reservations because the wait can take up to two-hours if they do not. When customers are finally seated, a waiter is assigned to their table. The first thing the waiter does, is ask what the customers wants to drink. About three minutes later, the drinks are served. Next the waiters bring some buttered rolls to eat while the customers are waiting, and of course, there are always peanuts. Customers are encouraged to throw the hulls on the floor. After waiting about seven to ten minutes, the waiter comes back to the table and takes the customers’ orders. About ten minutes later, the waiter brings out the salads and refills the customers’ drinks. A half an hour later, the waiter brings out the customers’ food. There is a more rapid pace at McDonald’s. Here customers have the option of driving through or dining in. The customers walk up to the counter and give their order. The food should be ready in the next two minutes.
My favorite restaurant is L'Antique Roma, in this place serves Italian food. It is a small and comfortable place located in Heredia downtown. In others words, it is safe, calm and relaxed place. I love to eat pizza, I really like pasta for this reason it is my best option to choose. However, in this place served delicious food like spaghettis, lasagna and others. After the university, when I get hungry, immediately I think in this place to eat. Almost always, I eat supreme pizza with a cold Ice tea. Is so excitedenergetic to continuous my day. Also, It is my favorite place to eat because in others place I don’t like the way that the waitress take the orders, when served the food long time after or they are miserable, for me is so stressed out and irritable to go it again. to have this option maybe because is the best of Heredia, for me. When I finish the meal, I go out so.
write an essay arguing whether or not the electoral college is useful today.
Explanation:
The Electoral College has been around since the beginning of democracy in America. The Founding Fathers set up the Electoral College in order to vote for a president every four years. The Electoral College gives each state, and D.C., a number of votes based on population. November 8th every four years, any citizen 18 years of age or older can vote for the candidate of their choosing. Based on the number of popular votes that candidate receives in each state, their matching Electors are activated to submit the final votes for a candidate. The president is decided off of the votes of the Electors. The method of the Electoral College in order to pick a president brings up issues with electors not being faithful, candidates will not visit every state, and the popular vote not counting. The Electoral College is the deciding factor in who becomes the next president. Parties when looking to nominate a candidate for presidency have to take into consideration, whether or not they will be able to get the most electoral votes in election. That issue alone leads to the possibly of a “not-so-great” person getting the nomination. The parties look at whether the candidate would be reliable and loyal to their party while in office, whether they are an obscure candidate or a celebrity, and whether they are prompt and firm or high-minded. A celebrity who is high-minded may be the better choice but because an “eminent man makes more enemies, and give those enemies more assailable points…they are far less desirable candidates” (Bryce 70). With that issue at hand the party has to decide which candidate will be the best for them in the end of the election. The party may go with either an obscure candidate or a celebrity, but they may have not been the better president. The way the electoral college works is that each state receives a minimum of three electoral votes in each election, but the state may have the population to only receive one. In order to combat the issue, the votes are taken from larger states with more electoral votes and give them to the states that need it. “Because of this process, the appointment of electoral votes always over-represents some states and under-represents others” (Edwards 2). Electors are given authority with the power to give the vote for their state. The question is whether they are “to think and act dependently, or are they merely agents of the people who choose them” (Edwards 19). This can be an issue for the people if their electors go against the wills of the people. Faithless Electors can lead to a “not-so-great president” coming in to power because their vote, going against the will of the people, can lead to the candidate people did not want to win to victory. Although this has never been a successful strategy in the past for some electors, it is still very possible. An elector can agree with the party’s views but not the candidate’s, so they could vote against them. If enough electors believe the same way, the electoral system can lead to tensions between the people and the Electoral College. Even though there are efforts to avoid a faithless elector, it can never be certain to stop. The Electoral College allows for the possibility of the “not-so-great” candidate to win in a state. The Electoral College decreases the chances of the more popular to candidate to always win. The number of votes per state leads to swing states where less people are voting for a candidate, but they are getting more electoral votes. A smaller state with more electoral votes can vote Republican and a larger state Democrat, but due to the vote distributions the Republican will win more votes in the end. The electoral votes are in favor of the candidate who may, in fact be the least liked candidate across the country. Without direct election of the candidates, the president who is “not-so-great” or popular amongst the people can win.Looking at how the Electoral College is set up, distributed, and mandated, it can be determined that it is flawed when it comes to picking the best candidate for the presidency. The better many may not even become the candidate because they will not get the votes, population is a hindrance in voting power, and the popular man may not win due to votes. In the end, the whole process of the Electoral College allows for issues when it comes to voting for the presidency and makes it possible for a “great” president to never get nominated.
