ASAP PLS ANSWER: How is Black Lives Matter continuing the fight for racial justice for African Americans?

Answers

Answer:

The legacy of slavery and Jim Crow laws have left a residue of systemic racism in the United States that has devalued the lives of African Americans.  Black Lives Matter (BLM), a social movement rooted in the collective, and individual, experience of black people in this country, encourages active resistance to the continuing dehumanization and devaluation of their lives.  Like other movements that preceded it, such as the Tea Party Movement, and Occupy Wall Street, “Black Lives Matter is anchored in the physical occupation of public space and amplified by social media.”  As a grassroots organization, Black Lives Matter has grown from a hashtag to a network that now encompasses over 30 chapters in the United States and other countries.  Building on strategies used by the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, BLM engages in nonviolent direct action to bring attention to police killings and abuse of African Americans.

There is a continuous struggle for human equality for African Americans in the United States. The Black Lives Matter Movement also confronts some of the same issues that previous black liberation movements addressed: black people are seen as criminal, and black bodies as expendable. Both movements have been opposed to racism and systemic oppression. Many see BLM as the new civil rights movement. That movement, from 1954 to 1965, demanded basic equality for African Americans. Black Lives Matter has focused on police abuse of African Americans. To that end, it is instructive to examine the similarities and differences between the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Lives Matter Movement.

Explanation:

The Black Lives Matter movement is fighting for racial justice by avenging the death of George Floyd, a black man who was wrongly killed by police brutality. Black people are sick and tired of being treated differently because of their skin color. It's time to put an end to this. It isn't the 1800's anymore. They deserve equality. BLM is protesting for this because Black people get killed every day from police brutality. For example George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

What were some key events of the Holocaust?

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

The Holocaust took place in the broader context of World War II. On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. Over the next year, Nazi Germany and its allies conquered much of Europe. German officials confiscated Jewish property, in many places required Jews to wear identifying armbands, and established ghettos and forced-labor camps. In June 1941, Germany turned on its ally, the Soviet Union. Often drawing on local civilian and police support, Einsatzgruppen (mobile killing units) followed the German army and carried out mass shootings as it advanced into Soviet lands. Gas vans also appeared on the eastern front in late fall 1941.

Answer:

Explanation:

The Holocaust (Shoah) is the term for the murder of around six million Jews by the Nazi regime and their collaborators during the Second World War.

Between 1941 and 1945, the Nazis sought to eliminate the entire Jewish community of Europe. Jews were murdered by death squads called Einsatzgruppen or transported to extermination camps. Six million of the eleven million European Jews perished. The Holocaust mainly occurred in Eastern Europe, in places such as Poland and Ukraine.

The term ‘Holocaust’ can also refer to the orchestrated murder of Roma. Other groups were also targeted by the Nazi regime: disabled people, Soviet Prisoners of War and civilians, Polish civilians, homosexuals, socialists, communists and trades unionists, Freemasons and Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The Nazis did not act alone. Countries which were occupied by the Nazis during the Second World War, such as Lithuania and the Ukraine, assisted the perpetrators.

Pls answer How does the description of the government's intervention in the Great Depression contribute to the development of ideas in the text?

Answers

Answer:

The Great Depression was caused by government intervention, above all a financial system controlled by America’s central bank, the Federal Reserve — & the interventionist policies of Hoover & FDR only made things worse.

The precise causes of the Great Depression remain a subject of debate, although, as economist Richard Timberlake observed n 2005, “Virtually all present-day economists... deny that a capitalist free-market economy n any way caused” it.

At the time, however, the free market was blamed, with much of the ire directed at bankers & speculators. Financiers were seen as having wrecked the economy through reckless speculation. President Hoover came to be viewed as a laissez-faire ideologue who did nothing while the economy fell deeper & deeper into depression, & Franklin D. Roosevelt’s interventionist policies under the New Deal were credited with rescuing us from disaster.

Americans came to conclude that the basic problem was the free market & the solution was government oversight & restraint of financiers & financial markets. It’s a view that the public, unaware of the consensus of modern economists, continues to embrace.

But the conventional story ignores the elephant n the room: the Federal Reserve. To place the blame for the Great Depression on a free financial system is like placing the blame for the fall of Rome on credit default swaps: you can’t fault something that didn’t exist. & by the time of the Great Depression, America’s financial system was controlled by the Fed.

It’s hard to overstate the importance of this fact. The Federal Reserve isn’t just any old government agency controlling any old industry. It controls the supply of money, & money plays a role n every economic transaction n the economy. If the government takes over the shoe industry, we might end up with nothing but Uggs & Crocs. But when the government messes with money, it can mess up the entire economy.

The two deadly monetary foes are inflation & deflation. We tend to think of inflation as generally rising prices & deflation as generally falling prices. But not all price inflation or price deflation is malignant — & not all price stability is benign. What matters is the relationship between the supply of money & the demand for money — between people’s desire to hold cash balances & the availability of cash.

Economic problems emerge when the supply of money does not match the demand for money, i.e., when there is what economists call monetary disequilibrium. Inflation, on this approach, refers to a situation where the supply of money is greater than the public’s demand to hold money balances at the current price level. Deflation refers to a situation where the supply of money is less than necessary to meet the public’s demand to hold money balances at the current price level.

N a free banking system, as George Selgin has argued, market forces work to keep inflation & deflation in check, i.e., there is a tendency toward monetary equilibrium. Not so when the government controls the money supply. Like all attempts at central planning, centrally planning an economy’s monetary system has to fail: a central bank has neither the knowledge nor the incentive to match the supply & demand for money. & so what we find when the government meddles n money are periods where the government creates far too much money (leading to price inflation or artificial booms & busts) or far too little money (leading to deflationary contractions).

& it turns out there are strong reasons to think that the Great Depression was mainly the result of the Federal Reserve making both mistakes.

The goal here is not to give a definitive, blow-by-blow account of the Depression. It’s to see in broad strokes the way in which government regulation was the sine qua non of the Depression. The free market didn’t fail: government intervention failed. The Great Depression doesn’t prove that the financial system needs regulation to ensure its stability — instead it reveals just how unstable the financial system can become when the government intervenes.

As she walked to her desk, she noticed that severalstudents were huddled around Leo's desk and that he had red rings around his eyes. He looked upat Hannah and said, "Why are people so mean?" Hannah didn't know what to say and stopped asLeo put his head into his hands. "Are you okay, Leo?" Hannah asked. She knew it was a silly thingto ask; he obviously wasn't okay at all. One of the other students said, "Someone postedsomething nasty about Leo online last night. He's just seeing it now."Hannah felt nauseated. Things like this had happened at her school before, and she knewthat they never ended well. Leo had a very good question. Why are people so mean? That was areal mystery. Someone probably posted something online thinking it to be funny. They didn't thinkabout how Leo would feel when he found out, and they obviously didn't think about how it wouldfeel if anyone did that to them.Just then, the principal walked into the class looking stern and angry. "Will and Emily. Myoffice. Now!" he barked. The two students kept their heads down as they gathered their bags andleft the room, desperate not to look at anyone as they left. Hannah realized that they were alreadyembarrassed about what they'd done. Maybe they were already thinking about how upset theirparents would be when they found out from the principal exactly how callous, thoughtless, andmean they'd been.No one saw Will and Emily at school again that day.The next morning, when Hannah got to her classroom, she saw everyone standing outside, gazing at the lockers. As she approached, she noticed that people were smiling and laughing. There were colored sticky notes on each of the lockers. As she got closer, she began to smile - thepositive energy was contagious, and she hadn't even seen what was on there yet. Each locker had at least two sticky notes on the door. Some sticky notes had silly jokes;some said things like, "What do you call a dinosaur who likes words? A Thesaurus!" Others hadpositive statements, such as, "You are truly wonderful!" Everyone was reading each other's lockernotes and sharing the jokes. Hannah joined in and was pleased to see Leo laughing along witheveryone else. At one point, someone said, "Mine says I am clever and funny," and Leo replied, "No,it says ... ", and then didn't finish his sentence. No one else noticed, but Hannah thought this was abit strange. She caught Leo's eye and smiled at him. He smiled back before turning to someoneelse.Hannah thought about Sherlock Holmes's words. The art of investigating is in seeing whatothers don't see. All of her classmates were looking at the lockers when someone said, "Who didthis?" No one owned up, but everyone kept smiling. It took a while before people realized that Will and Emily were now on the outskirts of thegroup, trying to get to their lockers. Both of them were obviously still humiliated by their actions.Hopefully they regretted their actions. Their heads were bowed, and they didn't try to talk toanyone. Hannah saw them look at the sticky notes on their lockers. On both of them it said, "Be thebest person you can be!" No one else had the same message on his or her locker, apart from Willand Emily. Just then, everyone else moved into the classroom. Just before she went in, Hannahheard Leo say good morning to them both before he went in. Emily and Will looked surprised, notjust at their lockers, but at Leo's greeting, too. When their teacher arrived, he said, "The lockers look great, but I don't think this shouldhappen every day. Does anyone want to own up to this? No? Okay, let's just leave it then." Hannahcaught Leo's eye. He looked at her, gently nodded his head toward her, and smiled. Then he put hisfinger to his lips and looked away. Hannah realized that she'd solved her second mystery, but thistime, she didn't need to share her achievement with others.
