Answer:
Are memories stored in just one part of the brain, or are they stored in many different parts of the brain? Karl Lashley began exploring this problem, about 100 years ago, by making lesions in the brains of animals such as rats and monkeys. He was searching for evidence of the engram: the group of neurons that serve as the “physical representation of memory” (Josselyn, 2010). First, Lashley (1950) trained rats to find their way through a maze. Then, he used the tools available at the time—in this case a soldering iron—to create lesions in the rats’ brains, specifically in the cerebral cortex. He did this because he was trying to erase the engram, or the original memory trace that the rats had of the maze.
Lashley did not find evidence of the engram, and the rats were still able to find their way through the maze, regardless of the size or location of the lesion. Based on his creation of lesions and the animals’ reaction, he formulated the equipotentiality hypothesis: if part of one area of the brain involved in memory is damaged, another part of the same area can take over that memory function (Lashley, 1950). Although Lashley’s early work did not confirm the existence of the engram, modern psychologists are making progress locating it. Eric Kandel, for example, spent decades working on the synapse, the basic structure of the brain, and its role in controlling the flow of information through neural circuits needed to store memories (Mayford, Siegelbaum, & Kandel, 2012).
Many scientists believe that the entire brain is involved with memory. However, since Lashley’s research, other scientists have been able to look more closely at the brain and memory. They have argued that memory is located in specific parts of the brain, and specific neurons can be recognized for their involvement in forming memories. The main parts of the brain involved with memory are the amygdala, the hippocampus, the cerebellum, and the prefrontal cortex

How does the CO2 level affect photosynthesis?
Answer:
Elevated [CO2] increases the availability of carbon in leaves causing greater Rubisco activity and higher rates of photosynthesis. Greater photosynthesis increases the content of non-structural carbohydrates in leaves which can lead to greater starch reserves and increased auxin biosynthesis.

What do you think? Is our current understanding ofthe Universe backed up with facts? Is it a good theory
Answer:
Yes
Explanation:
The expansion of the universe is the increase in distance between any two given gravitationally unbound parts of the observable universe with time. It is an intrinsic expansion whereby the scale of space itself changes. The universe does not expand "into" anything and does not require space to exist "outside" it.
17) What is the molarity
of a solution with
55 grams of CaCl2
dissolved in .78 L
of water?
a. 64M
b. 1.3 M
c. 171 M
d. 91 M
The molarity of a solution with 55 grams of CaCl2 dissolved in 0.78 L is 0.64M. Details about molarity is found below.
How to calculate molarity? The molarity of a solution can be calculated by dividing the number of moles of the substance by its volume.
However, the number of moles of a substance must first be calculated using the following expression:
no of moles = 55g ÷ 111g/mol
no of moles = 0.49mol
Molarity of CaCl2 solution = 0.49mol ÷ 0.78L
Molarity of CaCl2 solution = 0.64M
Therefore, the molarity of a solution with 55 grams of CaCl2 dissolved in 0.78 L is 0.64M.

A natural levee is _____.
A. an erosional feature that causes additional sediment to enter the river
B. a depositional elongated ridge formed by moving water that runs parallel to a stream channel
C. an elongated ridge designed by engineers that runs parallel to a stream channel
D. the result of wind erosion
Answer:
Option C, an elongated ridge designed by engineers that runs parallel to a stream channel
Explanation:
A natural or artificial levee is basically a ridge constructed along a river bank to regulate the water level in the stream.
It run along the river embankment and hence can be said that it runs parallel to the river length
Hence, option C is correct

Explain why there would be a need for lithium batteries?
Answer:
The much higher power density offered by lithium ion batteries is a distinct advantage. Electric vehicles also need a battery technology that has a high energy density. ... Lithium ion cells is that their rate of self-discharge is much lower than that of other rechargeable cells such as Ni-Cad and NiMH forms.

How many joules are required to change 40 grams of water to steam at the boiling point?
Answer:
2260 J
Explanation:
For water at its boiling point of 100 ºC, the heat of vaporization is 2260 J g-1. This means that to convert 1 g of water at 100 ºC to 1 g of steam at 100 ºC, 2260 J of heat must be absorbed by the water.

ЗKOH + H3PO4=K3PO4 + 3H2O
what is the reaction
Answer: The given reaction is a neutralization reaction.
Explanation:
When an acid chemically reacts with a base then it leads to the formation of salt and water.
For example, [tex]3KOH + H_{3}PO_{4} \rightarrow K_{3}PO_{4} + 3H_{2}O[/tex]
Here, KOH is a the base and [tex]H_{3}PO_{4}[/tex] is an acid which on chemical reaction with each other leads to the formation of salt [tex](K_{3}PO_{4})[/tex] and water [tex](H_{2}O)[/tex].
Thus, we can conclude that the given reaction is a neutralization reaction.
