Answer:
I do agree with this quote because history has proven that even the most horrific human doings fade over time and are defeated by an inherent human tendency to empathy and solidarity.
Explanation:
Anne´s diary offers a hopeful perspective during the most horrific setting imaginable. Despite her impending demise during the German occupation of the Netherlands, she maintains an unyielding belief in human goodness. There are many quotes with the same hopeful approach, like: "I don't think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains." Probably the best example for her was the fact that her family could hide in the secret annex thanks to non-Jewish friends who put their lives at risk for them.
And I can´t help but agree with this hopeful approach because I´ve read about this kind of courage in many of the most gruesome chapters of history. Brave souls giving their lives to save others, to make the world better.
Anne may not have survived the Holocaust, but her story became a source of inspiration for those who wanted to learn from that awful period. And despite her death and without her even knowing about it she did become the great writer she hoped to be, thanks to many others who also showed their commitment to ensuring her words were not forgotten.

Egyptian Society and Economy
Like most ancient civilizations, Egypt had a hierarchical social structure. At the top of society was the pharaoh, who was not only the monarch, but also considered to be a living god. Next were government officials and priests, and then there was a large middle class composed of merchants, soldiers, farmers, and artisans. Most Egyptians belonged to this class, and farming was the most usual occupation. At the bottom of the social ladder were slaves and servants.
Because of its location near the Mediterranean & Red Seas, it was easy for Egyptians to trade with other civilizations nearby, such as Nubia, Palestine, and Greece. Exports included grain, linen, and papyrus; imports included lumber, gold, and incense. The female pharaoh Hatshepsut is especially well-known for promoting trade.

This question seems to refer to the short story "By the Waters of Babylon," by author Stephen Vincent Benét.
Answer:
I believe there are two correct answers for this question. Since you did not post anything about how many options should be checked, I will select both of them.
The dialogue develops the characters by showing how:
B. the son has grown stronger and wiser than his father.
C. both men respect their traditions and love one another
Explanation:
The dialogue between John and his father in "By the Waters of Babylon" reveals how much John has grown. Now that he has become a man, he asks his father for permission to leave their land. John is a priest, just like his father. This is a post-apocalyptic scenario in which societal beliefs are based on superstitions and the fear of the unknown.
John wants to leave and explore, but his father fears for him. They love and respect each other. John would not leave without his father's permission; his father would not let John leave without giving him his blessing:
"My son," he said. "Once I had young dreams. If your dreams do not eat you up, you may be a great priest. If they eat you, you are still my son. Now go on your journey."
John and his father follow the traditions and rules of their people. John does not stop obeying them just because he is leaving. Quite the contrary, he maintains and respects them, just like his father:
That night, in the house of the priesthood, I asked for and received purification.
The dialogue also reveals how much stronger and wiser than his own father John has grown. While his father is still attached to superstitions, John wishes to know more and learn the truth:
His eyes were stern when I told him he was no longer my father but a priest. [...]
"This is a very strong dream," he said." It may eat you up."
"I am not afraid," I said and looked at him with both eyes.

Answer:
In his thesis paragraph, Paine calls on the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, to come forth to meet and repulse it.
Explanation:
Thomas Paine wrote his essay "The Crisis" where he talked of the need to band together all sectors of people to fight the British and work to get independence. He addressed and pointed out the problems faced by the American colonies at the hands of the British government and thus, the need to oppose and get free.
In his thesis paragraph, he called on everyone to come forward and meet the 'enemy', repulse it and fight head-on with it. He believes that the only way forward for the American people is to be free of the colonial authorities and be self-governed, without the involvement of any outside foreign force.

The Mystery of Loch Ness
By Kayden Mitchell
Of all the mysteries in the world, none has been as popular as that of the Loch Ness Monster. Perhaps the biggest mystery is whether it is convincing evidence or a simple desire to believe that keeps the myth alive.
Loch Ness is a lake in Scotland. The loch, or lake, is known for sightings of a mysterious monster. Most who see this monster, known as Nessie, describe something with a long neck and several humps above the water. Sometimes the "monster" is moving in these sightings, and sometimes it is still. Many have suggested that Nessie might be a plesiosaur (plea-see-a-soar), an aquatic dinosaur that was trapped in the loch after the last ice age.
The plesiosaur theory presents several problems. First, the plesiosaur is an air breather. Such a creature would need to surface often and, therefore, be seen more frequently. Second, it's unlikely that the same creature has lived in the loch since the last ice age. Today's creature would have to be the offspring of an original plesiosaur trapped long ago. This would suggest multiple creatures in the loch (needed to produce offspring). Again, sightings would be more frequent if this were the case.
So from a purely logical stand point, the existence of such a large and ancient creature is unlikely. But assume for a minute that it is possible. What would a plesiosaur need to live in an enclosed lake?
Tropical waters: Scientists believe plesiosaurs were warm-blooded. Like crocodiles and alligators, plesiosaurs would need to live in warm waters. The loch is very cold with temperatures averaging about 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4.4 Celsius).
Food: Like other warm-blooded creatures, plesiosaurs would need a large quantity of food. If there is a group of Nessies, then even more food would be needed. Because the loch is full of silt (underwater dust) not much light gets into the deepest areas. So the food chain, which would depend on plankton, is very weak at its base. As a result, there is probably not enough food to support such a large creature.
However, the plesiosaur theory is not the only one. Many other ideas attempt to explain the sightings and "photographs." But two separate sonar surveys of the loch have not found any evidence of a creature larger than a salmon. The last survey1, completed in 2007 by the British Broadcasting Company (BBC), involved 600 different sonar beams. Using satellite navigation systems, the team made sure every inch of the loch was searched. The team found nothing.
With cell phones and digital cameras, one would think that sightings of Nessie would increase. This has not happened. The BBC team believes the legend of Nessie has endured because people see what they want to see. To prove this, the team used a fence post, raising it before groups of tourists. Afterwards several of the tourists asked to draw pictures of what they had seen drew pictures of a monster's head.
Which best summarizes the results of sonar surveys?
The simple tools cannot search at depths where the creature lives.
The satellite navigation could not map the entire lake bottom.
There are too many large salmon in the loch to find much else.
They have found no evidence of anything bigger than a salmon.
Question 2(Multiple Choice Worth 5 points)
Answer:
They have found no evidence of anything bigger than a salmon.
Explanation:
The answer to the question you were given can be found in the paragraph that starts with the sentence However, the plesiosaur theory is not the only one. The third sentence of this paragraph states that sonar surveys of Loch Ness haven't discovered any creatures larger than a salmon. This is why the fourth statement best summarizes the results of sonar surveys.
The rest of the options are incorrect as these statements can't be found in the text.
