What potential difference is needed to give a helium nucleus (q=2e) 75.0 kev of kinetic energy?
The potential difference is needed to give a helium nucleus (q=2e) 75.0 keV of kinetic energy is 37.5kV.
What is potential difference?Potential difference is the difference in amount of energy that charge carriers have between two points in a circuit.
**Measured in Volts: **Potential difference is measured in volts (V) and is also called voltage. The energy is transferred to the electrical components in a circuit when charge carriers pass through them. We use a voltmeter to measure the potential difference (or voltage).
The potential Difference formula:** V = I x R**
The potential difference (which is the same as voltage) is equal to amount of current multiplied by the resistance. A potential difference of one Volt is equal to the one Joule of energy being used by one Coulomb of charge when it flows between two points in a circuit.
For the above question:
The kinetic energy K given to helium nucleus is equal to its potential energy, which is

one way to monitor global warming is to measure the average temperature of the ocean. researchers are doing this by measuring the time it takes sound pulses to travel underwater over large distances. at a depth of 1000 m, where ocean temperatures hold steady near 4∘c, the average sound speed is 1480m/s. it's known from laboratory measurements that the sound speed increases 4.0m/s for every 1.0∘c increase in temperature. in one experiment, where sounds generated near california are detected in the south pacific, the sound waves travel 7700 km .
The smallest change in average temperature that can be measured is 0.0475°C
CalculationAverage sound speed in deep sea = v=1480m/s
from California to south pacific, sound waves travel 7.7 x [tex]10^{6}[/tex] m distance
smallest time change detected = 1s
The time required for the sound wave to travel the given distance without any change in temperature can be calculated as
t =x/v
=7.7 x [tex]10^{6}[/tex] / 1480
=5202 s
The new time required for the waves,
t1 = t -[tex]\delta t[/tex] =5202-1 =5201s
Now we have to calculate the new sound speed.
v1 = x/t1 = [tex]\frac{7.7 *10^6}{5202}[/tex] =1480.19 m/s
so change in the speed of sound
[tex]\delta v = v1 - v[/tex]
= 1480.19 - 1480 = 0.19 m/s
Then it is given that
[tex]\delta v[/tex] = (4 m/s/°C) [tex]\delta T[/tex](°C)
Formulating,
0.19 m/s = (4 m/s/°C) [tex]\delta T[/tex](°C)
[tex]\delta T[/tex] = 0.19/4

numerical study on transient airflows and air exchange induced by door motion in thermally stratified environment
The correct answer is transient airflows under the combined motion of a door and the force of buoyancy.
However, the combined airflow characteristics generated by door motion, ventilation airflow, and thermal impacts have not yet been thoroughly defined. Door motion has been acknowledged as playing a part in the confined conveyance between indoor and outdoor regions. This study employed dynamic CFD simulation to look at the transient airflow characteristics and amount of air exchange generated by door motions in a thermally stratified environment with displacement ventilation. The results show that at a door angle of 30°, there is a 40% air exchange even though only 15% of the overall door motion process is used during the initial phase. Two important contributing factors are the temperature difference between the air inside and outside, as well as the rotational speed of the door.
The thermal convective flow may have a considerable impact on the airflow pattern through the doorway when the door motion is slow enough and the temperature difference is greater than 3 °C. The amount of air exchange rises linearly with door motion speed when there is no difference in temperature between the internal and exterior spaces. When buoyant force and door motion are coupled, a modest door speed yields minimal air exchange. Only the air temperatures close to the door are impacted by door movement. In the displacement ventilated room, a single door open and close cycle does not considerably reduce the overall temperature stratification. The research findings may help to improve knowledge of the consequences of dynamic disturbances in thermally stratified environments as well as offer recommendations for decreasing door motion-induced pollutant movement.

it is known that a vertical force of 200 lb is required to remove the nail at c from the board. as the nail first starts moving, determine (a) the moment about b of the force exerted on the nail, (b) the magnitude of the force p that creates the same moment about b if (c) the smallest force p that creates the same moment about b.
(a) The moment about B is 800 lb.in
(b) The magnitude of the force P is 51.3lb
(c) The smallest force P is 44.4lb
(a)
As we know,
[tex]M_{B} = r_{CIB}F_{N}[/tex]
[tex]M_{B}[/tex] = [tex]4[/tex] × [tex]200[/tex]
= 800 lb.in
The moment about B is 800 lb.in
(b)
By using the formula,
[tex]M_{B} =r_{AIB}Psin[/tex]θ
θ = 120°
Then, [tex]800[/tex] = [tex]18[/tex] × [tex]Psin120[/tex]°
P = 51.3lb
The magnitude of the force P is 51.3lb
(c)
P must be perpendicular to the line connecting points A and B in order for it to be minimal.
Using the formula,
[tex]M_{B} = dP_{min}[/tex]
[tex]800[/tex] = [tex]18[/tex] × [tex]P_{min}[/tex]
[tex]P_{min}[/tex] = 44.4lb
The smallest force P is 44.4lb

A plane convex lens is made of glass (n = 1.5) with one flat surface and the other having a radius of 20 cm. what is the focal length (in cm) of the lens?
The calculated value is 5:2.
The reciprocal of the focal length is used to calculate a lens's power. In diopter's, lens power is expressed (D). Positive focal lengths and positive power values are characteristics of convergent (convex) lenses. Negative focal lengths and negative power values are characteristics of diverging (concave) lenses.
Given that a N l =1.25 and a Ng =1.5
The focal length of a glass (g) lens in a medium (m) may be calculated using the formula
f1= (mNg 1) [1/R1/ 1/R2].
fa1 = (aNg1) [1/R1/ 1/R 2] while the lens is in the air.
When the lens is submerged in liquid, f l1 = (aNg 1) [1/R 1/1/R2] =1.5/1.25, which divides equation 1 by equation 2, and
fi/fa = (1.5/1.251)/ (1.51)
=5/2 or
Pa / Pi = 5/2 (since f=1/P).
Therefore, Pa:Pi= 5:2.

a baseball is thrown by the center fielder (from shoulder level) to home plate where it is caught (on the fly at shoulder level) by the catcher. at what point is the magnitude of the acceleration at a minimum? (air resistance is negligible)
At the maximum height ( top ) position, the ball's speed is minimum so at this point the magnitude of the acceleration at a minimum.
What is acceleration?In mechanics, acceleration is the rate at which the velocity of an object changes in relation to time. Acceleration is vector quantity (in that they have magnitude and direction). The direction of the net force acting on an object determines its acceleration. the extent of an object's acceleration as per Newton's Second Law. Such negative accelerations are typically produced by retrorocket burning in spacecraft. Since both acceleration and deceleration are changes in velocity, they are considered equally. Passengers experience each of these accelerations (tangential, radial, and deceleration) until their relative (differential) velocities are equal to the acceleration caused by the change in speed.
At most extreme level position the upward part of speed is generally zero. By then the ball just has level speed and minimum magnitude of acceleration.
