What is Samuel’s point of view about Richard in "Blood in the River"?

Answers

My overall impression of the book Blood on the River is that it’s a very good book. The reason I like it is because, it’s really suspenseful and it gets me really excited to keep reading. I think Elisa Carbone did a very good job of going to lots of places just to get facts so she could write an awesome book like that.

The character I can connect the most with is probably Samuel because he goes through a lot of hardships, either it being food, survival or Indian attacks. He also has to befriend someone he doesn’t trust yet.

The character that me most about life and death in the beginning and the end, was probably Captain John Smith because when he made Samuel stand on one foot, and told him that the whole colony has to be able to stand on two feet to survive.

I think the theme of the story that Elisa Carbone is trying to incorporate is bravery. I know this because on pages 78-80 it shows how Samuel knew just what to do about the situation they were in. With a lot of arrows flying around the fort, he got both the boys to go under the tent. James tried to get out but Samuel was pulling him, James started to get away but then Samuel lunged at him and grabbed him harder but James bit him and got away.

Another theme I thought was survival when he was at the Native American village how he learned how to make things using all-natural supplies. I think this because, when he was in the village he learned how to hunt and survive. The supplies he learned to make was “arrows, a bow, and a knife, then Kainta taught him how to shoot straight strait at target practice.

Samuel Collier, a rough and tough young orphan, becomes the page of Captain John Smith as they head for the New World. Brought up in poor conditions and street-smart, Samuel has to learn to control his anger and to use his head instead of his fists. During the journey on the ship the Susan Constant, Samuel begins his lessons in determining right from wrong. Through interactions with other boys his age, as well as key figures such as Captain John Smith, Reverend Hunt, and Master Wingfield, Samuel encounters conflict and discovers ways to avoid it. His first contacts with the native peoples in the Caribbean and in the New World further teach Samuel about different perspectives and about the value of culture. Survival in the new colony tests Samuel as he evaluates these life lessons and learns to make choices using his heart instead of his fists.

which of the rules to live by in "if " are similar to a rule or theme in bud not buddy

heres the poem

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too:

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same:

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build ‘em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

What is the theme of the story Bud Not Buddy?

A main idea or point that the author wants the reader to comprehend is known as a theme. There are four main themes in Christopher Paul Curtis' book Bud, Not Buddy. They are the value of family, the virtues of hope and tenacity, and the consequences of racism.

Most likely because Bud's name encapsulates everything that occurs in the book. Look at this: Bud is a "little fist of love" who fights with his foster brother, sleeps with a knife in his mouth, and uses a rake to whack hornets' nests.

I need and argumentative essay on whether companies should continue targeting kids in there advertisments
Use springboard unit 2 7th grade rading 2.8 and 2.6 passages for the assignments

Answers

Answer:

Children's advertisement is so easy  because they can influence other children. Yet that is where the ethical problems start. Kids aren't smart enough to know what they're selling to marketers. Advertisers already know that kids are going to exercise large numbers of Influence on their parents and in doing so can be relentless. When both children and parents are most insecure, such as when they are exhausted and hungry in the grocery store, the child's fervent pleas often result in the parent purchasing those products. Children seem to want almost any marketed product because the distinction between what is true and what is pretended is often not understood by them. If an ad shows a toy doing an impressive feat, they assume that if they buy it, it will do that. Kids don't understand the idea of selling.

Explanation:

if kids are to see other kids there age if tv they may think that they are able/mature enough to do these things. So my argument is that you should never target kids unless the company is customized to a kids product or something along those lines. Tobacco and Vaping companies often target kids with candy and sweets flavor knowing that it could potentially expand their market to children and teens. These types of companies that do not directly target them are still causing problems among the nations youth. So my argument stands that companies should never target children unless the product or service is tailored to children of that age.

Conduct some research on the Internet about a current major story in the news. It can be international or national news. Find two different news sources that are telling this same story. Find one from a U.S. source, and then find a non-U.S. news source (ideally a non-Western source altogether). First, summarize the story and identify what two news sources you used. Discuss the similarities and differences of how the stories were told. Consider any bias that either of the news sources may have, and explain how those biases may affect the telling of the story.

Hint: When trying to find the bias of a news source, consider any motivations that the news leadership may have for telling a story in a particular way. Historical? Political? Financial?

Answers

Answer:

Every day for four years, I would drive to my job, and every day at the same time, on the same route, I would notice the city bus. It would pull up next to me, and I would see all the people on board. Some would be reading. Some would be sleeping. Some would stare back at me. Every day, at the same time, it would follow me right to work. As I pulled into my parking space at work, I would see it around the corner, about a block away from my job. Then, one day, my car broke down. I had no way to get to work, and then, I remembered the bus. I decided to take it since I knew it was on the same schedule as I was. Since then, I have never driven to work again. Taking the bus is a useful method with which to travel because you can save a lot of money by using public transportation. One reason public transportation is useful is because it saves money. My commute to work was long, and it required a lot of gas. When I drove to work, I was spending $30 a week on gas. There are 52 weeks in a year. That translates to $1,560.00 a year I was spending on gas to get to work. When I started taking the bus, it cost $2 ($1 to get to work and another $1 to get home). Another way to save money is to use the toll road. That translates to $10 a week. That means that it cost me $520 a year to get to work. That's less than a third of what it cost to drive. It saved me $1,040.00. The funny part is that the reason my car broke down in the first place was because I was driving it constantly. 6 What is the central idea of this passage?

Answer:

CNN reported on the conflict in Gaza, providing a summary of the events and the reasons behind the escalation. They focused on the rocket attacks from Gaza and the Israeli airstrikes in response. CNN included quotes from Israeli officials and mentioned the civilian casualties on both sides. Their report was relatively balanced, presenting perspectives from both Israelis and Palestinians.

On the other hand, Al Jazeera covered the same story but with a different emphasis. They highlighted the historical context of the conflict, going back to the Israeli occupation and the displacement of Palestinians. They provided extensive coverage of the Palestinian casualties and criticized Israel's actions. Al Jazeera's report had a clear pro-Palestinian bias, with fewer quotes or perspectives from Israeli officials.

The bias of each news source can be attributed to several factors. In the case of CNN, potential motivations for bias could include the desire to maintain a neutral stance, cater to their predominantly American audience, and adhere to journalistic standards of objectivity. As for Al Jazeera, their bias may stem from their Qatari ownership and their aim to represent the perspectives of the Arab world.

It's important to recognize that all news sources may have some level of bias, whether intentional or unintentional. In this case, the biases of CNN and Al Jazeera affected how the story was presented. CNN aimed for a more balanced approach, while Al Jazeera prioritized highlighting the Palestinian perspective and grievances.

Overall, by comparing the reporting from CNN and Al Jazeera on the conflict in Gaza, we can observe the differences in emphasis, perspective, and bias between U.S. and non-U.S. news sources. It's crucial for readers to consume news from multiple sources to gain a more comprehensive understanding of complex global events.
